Medical/cancer camp, security meet conducted

Imphal, November 07 2021: Keithelmanbi Battalion of IGAR (S) conducted a medical camp at Lilong in Thoubal district on Saturday.
According to PRO IGAR (S), the camp was organised to assist the impoverished villagers deprived of basic healthcare services due to lean financial status and poor access to hospitals.
Medical team from Assam Rifles carried out the health check-up of the locals and distributed medicines to the needy people.
A total of 25 grateful civilians benefitted from the medical camp.
On the other hand, Somsai and Moreh Battalions of IGAR (S) conducted security meets at Poi village in Ukhrul district and Chongjang in Tengnoupal district on Saturday.
The security forum was attended by the village headmen and village authorities including ex-servicemen of nearby villages, said the PRO.
During the meet, the locals were updated about the prevalent security situation existing in the area and likelihood of various anti national activities being planned by the insurgent groups in the run up to the upcoming assembly elections.
Necessary measures required to be undertaken by locals in synergy with Assam Rifles for maintaining a strict vigil against illegal activities in the area, particularly extortion and smuggling were also discussed, it added.
In another release, the PRO informed that Chu-rachandpur Sector of IGAR (S) organised an awareness lecture on types, causes and prevention of cancer at various locations in Churachandpur, Bishnupur, Pherzawl and Noney districts on Saturday in connection with the observance of National Cancer Awareness Day.
According to the PRO, the lecture was organised to reach out to the local populace of remote and border villages of Beheng, H Khunou, Songdoi, Aina, Gaidimjang and U Ngaryan and educate them on various risk factors, causes and preventive measures.
Locals were also briefed elaborately on importance of early detection of cancer, treatment and palliative care.
A total of 183 locals attended the event.
