Port Blair, Nov 08 (UNI) The Andaman and Nicobar Administration is strictly implementing the fivefold strategy of Testing, Tracing, Treatment, COVID-appropriate behaviour and Vaccination for effective COVID-19 management in the Union Territory.
According to official data, ever since the outbreak of COVID-19, A&N Islands has augmented their testing manifold. As of date, 607523 samples have been tested in A&N Islands and the Islands' Test Per Million (TPM) presently stands at 1518808.
Similarly, RAT/RTPCR tests are also being conducted on Inter- Island-bound passengers travelling by ship, roadways as well as Helicopter. This way, the Administration has been able to curb the transmission of the virus and that has contributed to bringing down the number of active cases in the Islands.
So far, 5,05,184 doses of vaccines have been administered to beneficiaries in A&N Islands. The cumulative beneficiaries vaccinated with the first dose so far is 294458 (102.96%) while cumulative beneficiaries vaccinated with the second dose is 210726 (71.56%).
The percentage of population vaccinated so far in Isles stands at 73.61%.
Meanwhile, the Director of Andaman’s Information Publicity and Tourism, Mr Alok Kumar, (DANICS) today informed that 11 flights with 1836 passengers arrived at Port Blair Airport today in which 1297 were fully vaccinated and the remaining 539 passengers have undergone RT-PCR test, the results for today’s RT-PCR are awaited.
While addressing the COVID-19 media briefing today at IP&T Conference hall he pointed out that for passengers who arrived yesterday (Sunday), one passenger was found COVID-19 positive in the RT-PCR test. He added in all other local ports no one else was tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Test.
