Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Over four miscreants allegedly stabbed a youth to death under the Ranjhi station area of Jabalpur.
The incident occurred when the deceased Rohit Thapa, who is the son of a platoon commander posted in the Sixth Battalion SAF had left the house for Gandhi Vyayam Shala on Sunday night.
The Ranjhi police have taken the accused into custody and registered a case of murder. The police have started searching for the accused after scanning the footage of CCTV cameras installed around the spot.
Ranjhi police station in-charge Vijay Singh Paraste said that 30-year-old Rohit Thapa, son of Narayan Bahadur Thapa, who was posted as a platoon commander in the 6th Battalion SAF, had left his home last night to go to Gandhi Vyayam Shala.
Between 10:30 and 11 in the night, Sanjay Thapa, Abhishek Bahadur Manish and Sonu met him near Mama Kirana in front of the SAF petrol pump and started abusing him.
When Rohit resisted, all four attacked him with a knife and fled.
After the incident, someone called Rohit's brother Sumit Thapa and informed him about the incident.
Rohit was rushed to the hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead.
According to the statement given to police by Rohit's brother Sumit, the accused who stabbed Rohit are also associated with the police family.
The fathers of some of the four attackers are posted in the 6th Battalion, while the fathers of some have retired.
