Sidhu again attacks Channi govt, raises questions over appointments

Chandigarh, Nov 8 (UNI) Punjab Congress President Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday once again attacked the Charanjit Singh Channi government in Punjab and questioned its functioning and appointments.

Sidhu tried to corner his own party's government at a press conference, as a two-day special session of the state Assembly commenced on Monday.

Sidhu said even as the Chief Minister was changed, no action has been taken in the Bargari sacrilege case. The new Chief Minister and his government has been in power for 47 days, but has not taken any action in this regard till now, added the state Congress chief.

Claiming that he was trying to "open the eyes of the government," Sidhu said the Chief Minister has all the administrative and constitutional rights to take action against the guilty, and questioned who was stopping him from working.

He also targeted the Channi government on the appointments of Amar Preet Singh Deol to the post of Advocate General (AG) and Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota to the post of Director General of Police (DGP).

The Congress leader also said that although he has withdrawn his resignation from the post of Punjab Congress chief, but he will assume the responsibilities only when the issue of AG and ADG will be resolved.
