Covid: State adds 4 deaths, 85 cases in last 48 hours

Imphal, November 07 2021: At least four persons succumbed to COVID-19 in the last 48 hours during which 85 new positive cases were also registered.
According to COVID-19 Common Control Room, as many as 46 (23 male, 23 females) Covid cases were updated on November 6 .
In all 1,118 samples were collected during the said period thus taking the positivity rate to 4.1 percent against 3.5 percent registered on November 5 .
The positive cases belong to Imphal West (30), Imphal East (7), Thoubal (1), Ukhrul (1), Kakching (3), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (1) and Tamenglong (2), the release said.
A vaccinated resident of Churachandpur who had co-morbidities was reported dead by the State Level COVID-19 Deaths Audit Committee on the previous day (November 6) .
During the period, 57 persons were also discharged from home isolation (12), RIMS (1), JNIMS (17) and CCCs (27) .
The positive rate as on November 7, however, has dropped significantly to 2.9 percent, according to today's press release from the common control room as 39, including two Central security personnel, were confirmed positive out of the 1,352 samples tested in the last 24 hours at RIMS (4), JNIMS (5) and other testing centres (30) .
The cases are from Imphal East (12), Imphal West (16), Thoubal (3), Chandel (1), Churachandpur (1), Ukhrul (3) and Senapati (1), the common control room said.
With this figure, the cumulative number of Covid cases has risen to 1,24,086 which include 4,341 Central security personnel.
Sadly, one person each from Imphal East, Imphal West and Kakching succumbed to Covid in the last 24 hours.
Of the three, two were not vaccinated and had co-morbidities, it said.
With the new figure, the death toll has mounted to 1,934.In a positive sight, 42 persons who were in home isolation (6), RIMS (4), JNIMS (1) and CCCs (31) were discharged taking the number of cumulative recovered cases to 1,21,457 (general population 1,17, 135; Central security personnel- 4,332), the common control room said.
The number of active cases now stands at 695 (general population- 681 and Central security personnel- 14) and the recovery rate is 97.88 percent, it continued.
Medical Oxygen distribution
The common control room informed that 264-D type and 89 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available to different healthcare facilities in the State on November 5 while 481-D type and 43 B-type Oxygen cylinders were made available on November 6 .
Vaccination against Covid reaches 32.11 percent
With 4050 doses and 864 doses Covid vaccine administered on November 5 and November 6 respectively, Manipur's cumulative second dose coverage has reached 32.11 percent, the control room said.
The cumulative number of doses administered is now 20,04,538 of which 7,51,665 account for second doses, it added.
As per the latest update on second dose vaccination coverage rate (in percent) sourced from the State Immunization Officer, Jiribam (47), Imphal West (46.38) and Kakching (42.30) are the leading districts.
The second dose vaccination rate in the rest of the districts are: Imphal East (41.36 pc), Chandel (38.14 pc), Bishnupur (35.41 pc), Churachandpur (33.88 pc), Thoubal (25.73 pc), Pherzawl (25.53 pc), Noney (21.62 pc), Tengnoupal (20.95 pc), Tamenglong (19.85 pc), Senapati (19.66 pc), Kamjong (15.30 pc), Ukhrul (13.86) and Kangpokpi (8.87 pc) .
