Kyle Richards and husband Mauricio Umansky revealed that the reason why they moved up their wedding date in 1996 was because the “Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star was pregnant with daughter Alexia.
“The wedding was originally going to be I believe in April, and then we moved it up to January so my dress would still fit, because I was pregnant,” Richards, 52, told the Knot.
The “Halloween Kills” star said that while she “wouldn’t change one thing” about the wedding, she was nervous about getting lifted up during the traditional Jewish Hora Dance.
“I can remember thinking, ‘I am so worried about people lifting me up on a chair while I’m pregnant and doing the hora,’” Richards, who converted to Judaism, recalled. “I’m a Nervous Nelly anyway, so I would’ve already been scared. But then I thought, ‘Oh my God, I can not believe I’m doing this pregnant and being lifted into the air.’”
At the time of their wedding 25 years ago, Richards was already mom to daughter Farrah, now 32, whom she shares with ex-husband Guraish Aldjufrie.
“Our oldest daughter, Farrah, was in the wedding party, which was cool and fun,” Umansky, 51, told the Knot.
Richards chimed in, saying, ”When my husband asked me to marry him, he also gave Farrah a little ‘engagement ring’ that was a heart with two hands holding it.’”
Farrah was just 5 years old when she met her new step-dad, and 7 when she stepped into the role of flower girl during the wedding on Jan. 20, 1996.
“Oh my goodness, she was just so in love with [Umansky],” Richards remembered. “Every night we would all lay in bed and she would suck her thumb and rub his ear with her other little hand like he was her blankie!”
Unfortunately for “RHOBH” viewers, Richards said they won’t be renewing their vows anytime soon.
“I don’t believe in getting married again or a vow renewal because we got it right the first time,” Richards explained. “I just don’t want to mess with what works.”
