Stock market update: Power stocks up as market falls

NEW DELHI: Power stocks were trading higher on Monday at 09:59AM

Indowind Energy(up 4.85%), Suzlon Energy(up 2.82%), KEC International(up 2.65%), SJVN(up 2.38%), Adani Transmissions(up 2.34%), NTL(up 2.13%), PTC India(up 2.11%), Inox wind(up 2.09%), Voltamp Transformers(up 2.04%) and Jyoti Structures(up 1.99%) were among the top gainers.

Karma Energy(down 3.39%), K.P.I. Global Infras(down 2.78%), JSW Energy(down 2.71%), Reliance Power(down 2.45%), Transformers and Rectifiers(India)(down 1.55%), Energy Development Company(down 1.39%), NLC India(down 1.11%), Adani Power(down 1.09%) and Gujarat Industries Power(down 0.56%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 56.8 points down at 17860.0, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 202.08 points at 59865.54 at around 09:59AM.

Eicher Motors(up 2.74%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.37%), Grasim Industries(up 2.33%), Titan Company Ltd(up 1.8%), Bharti Airtel(up 1.59%), Shree Cement(up 1.56%), Tech Mahindra(up 1.29%), Bharat Petroleum Corporation(up 1.2%), Tata Motors(up 1.15%) and Kotak Mahindra Bank(up 1.01%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, IndusInd Bank(down 10.36%), Divis Laboratories(down 7.91%), Hindalco Industries(down 1.9%), Asian Paints(down 1.44%), Reliance Industries(down 1.38%), Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 0.97%), HDFC Bank(down 0.91%), HCL Technologies(down 0.83%), Cipla(down 0.81%) and Hindustan Unilever(down 0.8%) were trading in the red.
