Finally, USA reopening its borders to Canadians

The U.S. and Canada at the entry points across the 5,500-mile land border area for over 16 months have turned away all their tourists in an effort to stop further spread of Covid-19. Canada on Monday, Aug. 9th, started allowing fully vaccinated Americans to enter the country once again. On Sept. 7th, Canada expanded that it will be reopening its borders to include fully vaccinated visitors from other countries.

For nonessential purposes, the U.S. started allowing fully vaccinated nationals from foreign countries to cross the land borders from Canada and Mexico on Nov. 8th. U.S. border officials have cautioned of possible delays at land-entry points, as they expect huge traffic as officers will verify compliance with public-health measures.

All ports of entry into the U.S., from today, i.e. Nov. 8th, including ferries, will permit all non-essential travellers, if they are fully vaccinated to enter the country. The new rules will go into effect as of 12:01 a.m. on Nov. 8.

To be considered fully vaccinated, 14 days must pass after either a second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine or after a one-dose vaccine, namely the Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine.

The U.S. will accept all vaccines like Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Covishield that are approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and those given Emergency Use Listing (EUL) by the World Health Organization (WHO).
