A month after pledging to contest the 2022 Uttar Pradesh assembly polls together, Nishad Party has threatened severe ties with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP).
The president of the Nishad Party, Dr. Sanjay Nishad on Sunday said that he might part ways with BJP if the latter fails to keep promises.
He said that the fishermen community would not vote on BJP unless it makes its stand clear on the reservation. Now it is the responsibility of BJP to keep promises and give reservations to the fishermen community, said he.
Dr. Nishad said his party would stage protests in all the districts of UP. He went to the extent of saying that the alliance with BJP would be in danger if they did not keep promises.
Nishad Party has a strong base among the fishermen community, especially in eastern UP. Recently after forging an alliance with the BJP, the Nishad party was rewarded with a seat in the UP legislative council. Dr. Sanjay Nishad was made a council member under the nominated category.
Earlier, BJP partner Suheldev Rajbhar Bhartiya Samaj Party (SBSP) had severed its ties over the issue of reservation and joined the Samajwadi camp.
