U. S. Congressman Danny K Davis of Chicago, Illinois hosted a Congressional reception to Celebrate India’s oldest and largest festival- Diwali on November 3 evening at the National Democratic Club, Washington D.C.

U. S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi lit the traditional Indian lamp to signify Diwali and headlined the event. Several prominent elected officials including Congressman Richard Neal, (D- Massachusetts), Chair, U. S. House Ways & Means Committee among others joined the historic celebrations.

Dr Vijay G Prabhakar, Indian American Community Leader from Chicago said that this Diwali celebration with the participation of Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the third-highest elected official of USA was significant because for the first time since 2009 Diwali was NOT being celebrated in the White House. President Obama was the first U. S. President to celebrate Diwali in the White House in 2009, and thereafter all Presidents annually celebrated Diwali.

Dr Vijay G Prabhakar said that the White House not celebrating Diwali this year 2021 had triggered them to organize official celebrations for the first time with the U. S. House Speaker, the State of Illinois House Speaker, the City of Chicago Council and Cook County Treasurer’s office to showcase India’s heritage during this festival season.

Neil Khot, National Chairman, Indian American Business Coalition praised the inspiring leadership of Dr Vijay G Prabhakar, President, American Multi-Ethnic Coalition and President, Indian American Business Coalition, USA for facilitating this historic event at Washington D. The schedule language is Mathili and a man who took this initiative of reviving this 3rd B.C., old language is Shashi Bhushan Jha of Mohali. He is running an online institute called Mathilakshar Vigya Mohali, from Maithil Sangh Mohali. Jha is able to make people from PAN India, Nepal participate after every fifteen days to enroll in three months course for learning and writing Maithili.

Shashi Bhushan Jha, President of Mathil Sangh Mohali and Founder of Mithilakshar Vigya while speaking to The Daily Guardian said, “We have taught Mathili to more than 1000 students from pan India, Nepal, and even from Saudi Arabia. This is a three-month course and after fifteen days, we shout out on Social Media for students to enroll. This all is free of cost. After completing the course, the student gets the Maithilakshar vigya Certificate and also gets able to write, read the Mathili Language with ease. Right now, 100 students from India and Nepal are learning Maithili on WhatsApp”.

“It is generally believed that the Sidhhacharyas evolved Proto Maithili during the 8th -9th century when they composed Charyapada. Since then the language has progressed steadily. Vidyapati, a very productive writer has used Avahatta, a form of Proto Maithili in his dramas, the Kirtilata and Kirtipataka. He also composed melodious poems depicting the love of Radha-Krishna in his Padavali that is written in the Maithili of the medieval period. Vidyapati also influenced Nepali, Bengali, Assamese, Oriya, and Manipuri literature during the medieval period,” Jha told The Daily Guardian.

Jha added that In Nepal, Maithili is the second state language and is used by 12% of the total population. Here, Maithili was used in the court of the Kings, during the Malla period. As of now, Mathili is a very well recognized scheduled language over the Indian Currency, Maithili is an Indo-Aryan language native to the Indian subcontinent, mainly spoken in India and Nepal. In India, it is spoken in the states of Bihar and Jharkhand and is one of the 22 recognized Indian languages. In Nepal, it is spoken in the eastern Terai and is the second most prevalent language of Nepal. Tirhuta was formerly the primary script for written Maithili. Less commonly, it was also written in the local variant of Kaithi. It is also matching to the language of Devnagiri.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh on Friday said that concerted and technology-based effort has been made to promote the agriculture sector for young start-ups in Jammu and Kashmir for the first time in the last few years under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Singh accused earlier governments of deliberately discouraging start-ups in the region including in the Kashmir valley, so that “the youth could remain perpetually dependent on salaried government jobs and continue hanging around the political masters of the day.” Addressing an meet of Agricultural Start-Ups and farmers, organised jointly by Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology , the minister said, “It is for the first time in the last few years that under the leadership of PM Modi, concerted and technology-based effort has been made”

Vowing to restore the pristine glory of Punjab, the Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Friday said that state would be soon transformed into ‘Golden Sparrow of India’.

Addressing the gathering here at 111th Sri Vishwakarma Pooja Utsav the Chief Minister said that concerted efforts will be made for the holistic development of the state on one hand and prosperity of its people on the other. Evoking Lord Vishwakarma ji, the divine architect of the entire universe, he said that with the blessings of Lord a mechanism is being evolved to put the state on trajectory of high economic growth. CM Channi said that no stone is being left unturned for comprehensive development of the state.

Terming his government as the Government of common man, for the common man and by the common man, the Chief Minister said that from day one his major thrust is only ensuring transparent, responsive and citizen centric administration. He said several path breaking initiatives including cheap power, Basera scheme, ownership rights to people living within Lal Lakeer and others have been already initiated by his government. CM Channi said that not only this but several other decisions will be taken in the coming days.

The Chief Minister said that gone are the days when common man, peasant, farmers, employees and others have to look towards the government for their problems. He said that one amongst them is the Chief Minister of state adding that he is duty bound to serve the state in right earnest. CM Channi further said top priority is being accorded for ensuring all-round progress of the state.

Paying rich tributes to the Lord Vishwakarma, the Chief Minister felicitated the technocrats and labourers of the state and said that Lord Vishwakarma ji was the founder of the Engineering, Architecture and technology on the earth. He said that the industrial and infrastructure growth across the globe that we observe today was only due to the blessings of Lord Vishwakarma, who had created mechanical skills.

CM Channi said that the technological skills coupled with day-to-day advancements had facilitated mankind to grow swiftly. The Chief Minister appealed the people especially the youth to improve their professional skills and enhance their abilities for availing optimal job opportunities.

On the occasion the Chief Minister announced a grant of RS 2 crore for the Lord Vishwakarma temple adding that a hi tech ambulance will be provided to charitable hospital being run by organisation.
