Bhopal: The Bhopal smart city will spend Rs 20 crore to manage the traffic system in the city. All the traffic signals in city will be synchronised under automated traffic control system.

Bhopal Smart City Development Corporation Limited (BSCDCL) chief executive officer (CEO) Ankit Asthana said that the automated traffic management system will be used to manage signals and traffic related problems in state capital.

All the efforts made by the traffic police and district administration earlier were in vain.

Now, the smart city has floated tender for the project and claims to complete it within six months. The system will help monitor the traffic movement on different routes through command and control system of smart city and help officials act accordingly in case of congestion. The cameras of smart city will help to monitor the roads, says an official of the smart city project.

Besides, there are plans to synchronise the traffic signals and develop free left turns. Once synchronised, the commuters need not stop at the next signal, he says. The signals will be green at every intersection at a time, to enable maximum number of vehicles to pass through.

Besides, there will be research-based development on left turns at all the road squares. The smart city will also identify the dark spots where accidents occur frequently.
