BHUBANESWAR: Higher
education department secretary
Saswat Mishra on Saturday made a surprise visit to the premier
BJB Autonomous College here. He asked the college to resume classes in smart classrooms.
According to official sources, smart classrooms were started before the Covid-19 pandemic hit the state in March last year. As physical classes could not be held during the pandemic, the smart classrooms remained unused. "We have two smart classrooms in the college to cater to the needs of the students," said BJB Autonomous College principal
Niranjan Mishra.
The college sources said each of the smart classrooms is equipped with desktop, interactive whiteboard, short throw-projector, portable visualizer, whiteboard, green board, wireless microphone and camera so that students can learn through audio-visual mode.
"The whole classroom teaching can be recorded and used to conduct classes for other students. It will impart education to students in the most advanced manner. The state has signed a memorandum with a government agency in 2019 to set up the smart classroom facility in 101 colleges," said a higher education department official. The department secretary has also advised the college students not to hold cricket tournaments during college hours.
