Paddy purchase: BJP stands bare

Hyderabad: What could be the best example of a double conversation? One does not have to look for examples, but look at the way in which the state leaders of the BJP smuggle untruths and people on the basis of false propaganda.

Saturday’s mockery of state BJP president and MP Bandi Sanjay urging farmers in Telangana to start cultivating paddy is clearly an example of how BJP leaders thrive on false propaganda, despite the irreparable loss to the farming community. will apply.

Bandi Sanjay’s statement asking farmers to go for rice cultivation hides the original truth where the Center in strongly worded messages reminded the Telangana government that it would not be in a position to parboiled rice from the Kharif Marketing- season (KMS) of 2021. 22.

If one were to investigate the official communication on the issue, Bandi Sanjay’s claims would be thoroughly exposed. Here are the facts that expose the double standards of the Telangana BJP leaders on paddy acquisition.

The Ministry of Consumer Affairs (MoCA) wrote to Telangana Commissioner of Civil Supplies and clearly stated that no cooked rice will be delivered to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) by the state government in the future. In another letter to the Commissioner of Civil Supply on 8 September 2021, the FCI reiterated that it would not be in a position to accept any parboiled (PB) rice from KMS 2021-22. It also advised the government to encourage farmers for crop diversification by encouraging the sowing of other crops.

Earlier, in another letter addressed to States in August 2021, the MoCA received a copy of the meeting held on 17 August 2021 with the State Property Secretaries and officers of FCI regarding the arrangements for the acquisition of paddy / rice during KMS 2021-22. and advised governments to encourage farmers for crop diversification by sowing other crops.

The Secretary of the Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) made it clear that the consumption of PB rice was limited and FCI was not in a position to accept more PB rice. While the MoCA and FCI clearly stated in their letters that they could not accept PB rice, the BJP leaders in Telangana have a different story to tell. Without any consideration of the financial distress it may lead to, they openly beg the farming community to cultivate paddy and assure them that they will force the State Government to procure paddy produced in the state. Anyone can see through the play of the BJP leaders that they only want to slander the Telangana government and in the process are ready to sacrifice the welfare of the farmers.

It is not as if the BJP leaders are making these claims private. During a meeting held at the BJP state office in Nampally on Saturday to mark the party’s victory in Huzurabad by-election, Sanjay called on farmers to go for rice cultivation.

The repeated recollections of the MoCA and FCI categorically declaring that PB rice could not be accepted seemed to make Sanjay completely unaware of what his party government at the Center was instructing the states to do. And what could be a better example of double talk?
