Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh was on Saturday brought to Mumbai's Arthur Road Jail. Earlier in the day, the Special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court sent him to 14-day judicial custody.

A fire broke out in a flat on the 14th floor of the ground plus 15 storey building in Kandivali on Saturday night. No injuries reported so far. The fire broke out at around 8:30pm. Hansa Heritage building is located on Mathuradas Road, opposite Lijjat Papad in Kandivali (West). Fire brigade has designated it as a level 1 fire. Fire engines have been rushed to the spot to douse the fire.

Maharashtra: Newly-wed woman found murdered in Virar flat

The body of a newly-wed 24-year-old woman was found in a flat in Virar in Palghar district on Saturday morning, after which two teams were formed during the day to solve the murder case, an official said. The victim, identified as Priya Kamble, had got married on October 24, and her husband was working on the night shift when the murder took place in their third floor flat, the Virar police station SHO told PTI.

A vigilance team of Narcotics Control Bureau Delhi investigating extortion allegations against NCB's Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede will visit the spots in Mumbai related to the drug bust case on Monday, said sources. As per the sources, the team headed by NCB Senior Officer Gyaneshwar Singh will reach Mumbai from Delhi on Monday. It is likely to visit the cruise ship where the raid took place last month in which Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested. (ANI)

Cop knocks down couple with car in Palghar, booked

An offence has been registered against a policeman for allegedly knocking down a couple with his car and injuring them in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said on Saturday.The incident took place near Chinchani bypass in Dahanu around 9.30 pm on Friday, an official said.Assistant police inspector Suhas Kharmate, who was driving his car, knocked down a couple riding a two-wheeler, he said.The accused policeman fled the scene, while the couple was rushed to a hospital in neighbouring Mumbai in a critically injured state, the official said.

Anil Deshmukh's son files anticipatory bail before Mumbai sessions court

Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh's son Hrishikesh moved to sessions court on Saturday and filed a petition for anticipatory bail. Earlier on Thursday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had issued summons to Hrishikesh for questioning in an alleged money laundering case in which his father Anil Deshmukh has been arrested. ED had asked Hrishikesh to appear before it on Friday but he did not, said ED officials.
