Kaizer Chiefs head coach Stuart Baxter has had a slow start to the season on his return to the club.

Still, as Amakhosi heads into the Soweto derby against Orlando Pirates, the statistics favour the Naturena-based team.

Saturday's match at FNB Stadium is a landmark for Baxter as it is his 100th match in charge of the Soweto Giants.

Heading into the derby with Pirates, the Amakhosi coach does hold a decent record in the meetings between the two clubs.

So far, in nine meetings, Baxter has only one loss, followed by five draws and three wins.

In his last Soweto derby win on 2 December 2014 before leaving Amakhosi in June 2015, Baxter led Chiefs to a 2-0 win with goals coming from Siphiwe Tshabalala and Siphelele Mthembu.

The second match ended 0-0 on 7 March 2015.

"We are going into a derby, and a derby is a must-win game all the time. I have never played a derby where it is okay to get a draw," Baxter told media.

"We want to put together a game plan that will win us the game. We will do the best we can. The derby takes on its own life. It has a game plan. Get the players motivated.

"Get them balanced. Get them in the frame of mind that they can go on to the field and win the game. That is what both coaches will be doing," he added.

Kick-off is at 15:30.
