The Khuiyansarwer police have seized 24,000 sedative tablets and 18 kg poppy husk after intercepting a truck, bearing a Punjab registration number, at the checkpoint near Gumjal village here.

Driver Inderjit Singh Rana of Mallanwala was held under the NDPS Act. Also, the City-2 police seized 20 kg poppy husk from Akashdeep Singh Ashu and Amandeep Singh Amna of Muktsar. Another 750 gm of opium was seized from Vikram Karwasra of Bikaner. — OC
