Muncie police release name of city's latest homicide victim
MUNCIE, Ind. — Muncie police on Saturday released the name of the local man fatally shot Friday on the city's south side.
William D. Rucker, 25, was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting, in the 2200 block of South Pershing Drive.
The shooting was reported to emergency dispatchers about 11:25 a.m.
Another man also suffered a gunshot wound and was driven, apparently by a friend, to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital. That man — whose name has not been released — was not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Muncie police are continuing to investigate the shootings, and Brian Campbell, a city police sergeant, asked that anyone with information call the department's investigations division at 765-747-4867.
Investigators are apparently not searching for a suspect in the case. Scanner traffic indicated a person believed to have fired gunshots at the scene was apparently in contact with authorities.
Deputy Police Chief Melissa Pease confirmed that no arrests had been made in the case.
An autopsy was to be conducted Saturday at the Muncie hospital, Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell said.
Rucker is believed to be Delaware County's 11th homicide victim of 2021.
Three of the earlier victims were Michigan men found shot to death in a home at the Elgin Manor Apartments Complex, 2533 N. Elgin St., on Feb. 18.
Arrests have been made in connection with nine of the earlier deaths.
No charges have been filed in the Aug. 26 shooting death of Ranjit Singh, whose body was found along a sidewalk on Madison Street, south of 23rd Street.
However, authorities believe Singh might have been slain by a man who later shot and killed himself when approached by a police officer in Daleville. That investigation is continuing.
