Crop damage will be compensated soon, says Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar

CHANDIGARH: Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Saturday that the farmers whose crops have been damaged due to recent hailstorm, will be given proper compensation higher than the present one of Rs. 12,000 per acre. This will be announced in the next cabinet meeting.
Khattar was addressing the group of villagers in Jharothi village of Sonipat after doing an arial survey of crop damage due to untimely rain.
The chief minister made several announcements for the farmers in Jharothi village and said that he himself is the son of a farmer and entire Haryana is like his family. He added that work is being done in the entire state with the spirit of Antyodaya. Haryana is the land of farmers and 70 percent of the agriculture is done here. When the farmers are happy, then only shopkeepers, workers, traders, and people running the factory will be benefitted.
He said that during the coronavirus pandemic period, Rs.16, 000 crore was given to the farmers by the state government. In 2015, when the crops were damaged due to rain, the money was deposited in the accounts of the farmers in one and a half months. In the previous governments, cheques only up to Rs. 2, 4 and Rs. 10 were given to the farmers.
He added that when the new government was formed in the state, it was decided that no farmer's cheque would be made less than Rs. 500. In the earlier governments, Rs. 5,700 per acre was given as compensation for crop failure. Later Rs. 7,500 was made. When the new government was formed, government gave a compensation of Rs. 12,000 per acre.
The chief minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has started the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, understanding the pain of the farmers. He announced that the state government would bear the premium for the crop of the farmers who sowed less than two acres of land. The state government will give half the crop insurance installment of the land of the farmers sowing up to two to five acres and appealed to the farmers who sow more than five acres to pay their premium on their own because they are capable.
He said that this compensation would be given to the farmers who are cultivating because many times farmers take the land of others and cultivate it, which is why this arrangement has been made. He said that for this, within 15 days or a month of sowing of the crops, the farmer has to register by visiting local CSC and give details regarding their land and crops which he is cultivating only then that farmer will be entitled to this scheme.
A portal will be made to solve the problems being faced by the development of the village
He said that for its development in any village, now the collective consent letter will have to be uploaded on behalf of the villagers on the Gram Darshan Portal and after it is uploaded, that development work will be done by the concerned Panchayat Samiti, District Administration or State Government. Not only this, if the work of getting development work done related to the Central Government, then those problems will be resolved after correspondence with the Central Government.
Speaking regarding the demand letter associated with 18 villages of Kharkhoda block, he said that two revenue roads of each village would be made pucca. He announced completion of development works of about Rs. 30 crore related to street stadium, gymnasium, drinking water etc. and said that this is the first time that such a huge amount has been announced in any one village.
