Barnala, November 5
Firm in their resolve to get the central agricultural laws repealed, farmers dedicated Diwali to their fellowmen who lost their lives during the ongoing agitation. Farmers have announced to further intensify their agitation.
“There are many families of farmers, who have lost their earning hands during the protest against the central farm laws. Our protests at various sites have been going on for the past over one year. Last night farmers dedicated their Diwali to the martyrs of our agitation,” said Narain Dutt, a farm activist. Farmers alleged authorities were making much noise about the burning of stubble and alleged pollution, but were blind to the pollution caused by the bursting of crackers and big industrial houses.
“Many big industrial houses have been causing pollution as they were not following the mandatory norms to contain pollution. Apart from it, the bursting of crackers has caused pollution across the country. But authorities are not taking any action and blaming only stubble burning,” said Kaka Singh, a protesting farmer.
Farmers alleged central and state governments had been trying to defame farmers with allegations rather than taking required steps to fulfil their genuine demands.
“Since the start of agitation, authorities have been levelling baseless allegations against farmers. But we will not end our protest till the repeal of central farm laws” said Harcharn Singh. — TNS
