Kanpur, Nov 6 (UNI) Corona is not even "NOT OUT" that Zika has taken "STRIKE" with 13 more people getting infected with deadly virus in Kanpur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, taking the total number of Zika virus patients in the district to 79.
Officials here said all the 13 new infected patients were detected in Chakeri area.
On Friday, the total number of Zika infected people was 66.
However, none of the Zika patients so far have died.
District Magistrate said the first case of Zika virus infection in the district was found on October 23 in an Indian Air Force officer and since then the number has increased to 79.
The administration has become alert for its prevention. Special instructions have been given to the Health Department for investigation. Instructions have been given to keep a special watch on railway stations and bus stands.
The Health Department had sent large number of samples for test from Zika affected localities of Chakeri area, Harjender Nagar, Air Force Complex, Pokharpur, Lalkurti, Motinagar, Ashrafabad, Adarshnagar .
The DM said among the people infected with Zika virus, there are 49 males and 30 females.
He said the Health Department officials have been ordered to ensure door-to-door sampling for surveillance and virus testing.
Meanwhile, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday while giving instructions to the officials of Team-9 said the infection with Zika virus is spreading rapidly in Kanpur. In this case, special caution is required.
Dengue testing should be intensified. Arrangements should be made in all hospitals for the treatment of unwell people, CM directed.
The CM said the health of every patient should be continuously monitored. Surveillance needs to be improved and the work of extensive sanitation and fogging should be increased. Full cooperation of monitoring committees should be taken, he said.
