Anil Deshmukh's son files anticipatory bail before Mumbai sessions court
Former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh's son Hrishikesh moved to sessions court on Saturday and filed a petition for anticipatory bail. Earlier on Thursday, Enforcement Directorate (ED) had issued summons to Hrishikesh for questioning in an alleged money laundering case in which his father Anil Deshmukh has been arrested. ED had asked Hrishikesh to appear before it on Friday but he did not, said ED officials.
The crime branch has filed an application for recording of the statement of a witness in the extortion case under CrPC 164. The court has allowed the application and statement will be recorded on November 8.

Maharashtra: 10 dead, several injured in Ahmednagar civil hospital fire
At least 10 patients admitted to the civil hospital in Maharashtra's Ahmednagar died after a major fire broke out on Saturday. According to officials, several patients were also injured in the blaze. Man found dead at dyeing unit in Bhiwandi
A 53-year-old man was allegedly found murdered at a dyeing unit in Bhiwandi town of Maharashtra's Thane district, police said on Saturday.The victim, Rajendra Singh Saryuram Singh, a resident of Kanheri, was found lying in a pool of blood in the dyeing unit, where he was employed, on Friday, Thane police PRO Jaimala Wasave said.The police suspect that the victim may have been attacked and killed by his roommate one Gulab, who has been missing since the incident, the official said.
MVA govt should take loan if it faces fund crunch: Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrakant Patil

Income Tax Department conducts searches in Maharashtra
The Income Tax Department carried out search and seizure operations at the headquarter and one of the branches of an Urban Credit Cooperative Bank located in Maharashtra and restrained Rs 53.72 crore, informed the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Saturday.The search and seizure operation was carried out on October 27.According to CBDT, the residence of the chairman and one of its directors were also searched.
Man held for making fake PAN cards
A man has been arrested at Valiv in Maharashtra's Palghar district for allegedly running a business of making fake PAN cards, police said on Saturday.The accused, Satya Prakash Hiralal Mourya, 29, was arrested on Thursday, following a raid at his photo studio in Sativali village, from where 18 fake Permanent Account Number (PAN) cards were recovered, they said.
Ganja worth Rs 25,000 recovered, man held
Police have arrested a man at Nalasopara in Maharashtra's Palghar district and recovered from him ganja worth Rs 25,000, an official said on Saturday.The accused, Rizwan Abdul Khan, 24, was nabbed by a team of the crime detection unit of Mira Bhayandar-Vasai Virar police commissionerate on Thursday."Acting on a tip-off, the police kept a vigil behind a lodge in Pelhar Road area of Nalasopara and nabbed the accused. Over 2.4 kg ganja worth Rs 25,000 was recovered from him," a statement by the MBVV police said.

Thane district records lowest daily Covid-19 count since outbreak of pandemic

Sameer Wankhede to no longer probe cruise drugs case
Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) officer Sameer Wankhede has been taken off the controversial cruise drugs case in which Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan was arrested, with the agency transferring the investigation in it and five others cases from the Mumbai unit to an SIT.The action has been taken on "administrative grounds". As these cases have "wider and inter-state ramifications", they have been transferred to the operations unit in Delhi, NCB Deputy Director General (north-west region) Mutha Ashok Jain told PTI on Friday.
Thane: 12 fires reported on Diwali night, some in parked trucks, garbage heaps
At least 12 incidents of fire triggered by firecrackers were reported in different parts of Maharashtra's Thane city on Diwali night, and there were no casualties, a civic official said on Friday. At 802, Maharashtra logs lowest Covid-19 cases in 18 months; 17 die, 886 recover
Maharashtra on Friday reported 802 new Covid-19 cases, the lowest daily count since May 2, 2020, and 17 fresh fatalities, a health department official said.
