Imphal, November 05 2021: Chief Engineer, Minor Irrigation Department, H Brajendra Singh has clarified on the publication made by MLA of Sugnu Assembly Constituency, K Ranjit Singh on the issue of work orders by the Minor Irrigation Department of Sugnu AC on November 4.In a press release, the Chief Engineer stated that the Minor Irrigation Schemes are taken on farmers beneficiary basis and there are no particular schemes as Assembly constituencies (ACs) wise however some MI schemes may fall within a particular AC.

Regarding the issuing of work orders, the release stated that no monetary demand was made by the Department to any agencies/contractors for issuing of work orders and clarified that work orders for some schemes are yet to be issued due to delay in tendering process caused by the prevailing COVID-19 situation.

However, the bidders are requested to deposit Earnest Money for each work in order to participate in the tendering process and only after that, Performance Bond is to be deposited by the agency/contractor after the work has been awarded to them, added the press release.
