Afghanistan will be playing their next match against New Zealand on November 7 in their last group match at T20 World Cup 2021. This match is very crucial from team India’s point of view too, because if Afghanistan manages to beat New Zealand, then it will clear the roadblocks for India to qualify for the semi-finals in the T20 world Cup.
Afghanistan star spinner Rashid Khan on Saturday shared a video on Instagram and wrote “All ready and set for big day tomorrow.” This match is very crucial for India and New Zealand too, it will decide the fourth and last semi-finalist of the tournament.
England, Australia and Pakistan have already booked their place in the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup 2021. The chances for India to qualify for the semi-finals are very slim, as they lost their first two matches against Pakistan and New Zealand. It will be the first tournament since the 2007 ICC World Cup that team India might crash out of any ICC tournaments without making it to the semi-finals.
For India, they can only pray that Afghanistan beat New Zealand on Sunday and then Virat Kohli-led Indian team beat Namibia with a big margin, only then India stand a chance for the semi-finals. However, it is very unlikely that Kane Williamson-led New Zealand will lose against a team like Afghanistan.
After this tournament, Indian captain Virat Kohli will be stepping down from his captaincy role in the T20I format and will continue to lead India in Test and ODI. Though the rumours say that he will also be stepping down from the ODI captaincy because management wants a new face for the leadership role in limited over formats, considering the next two World Cups in 2022 and 2023. As per many reports, Rohit Sharma might lead the Indian side.
