Teen shot, killed in apparent attempted robbery in Lawrence

An 18-year-old has died after being shot Friday afternoon during an apparent attempted robbery in Lawrence, police said.

Officers found the man about noon with at least one gunshot wound in a car in the 4600 block of North Sadlier Drive. He was taken in critical condition from the residential area to a hospital where he died.

Lawrence Police Department Deputy Chief Gary Woodruff said initial investigation into the shooting indicates the man died during an attempted robbery of a person, but details about what led up to the shooting are still unclear.

The person police suspect is the shooter was last seen running north near East 46th Street and Sadlier Drive, Woodruff said.
