Indian captain Virat Kohli finally wins the toss and opts to field against Scotland in a do or die match. This is the first time in four matches in T20 World Cup 2021 that the Indian captain has managed to win the toss. Toss has been proved as a match deciding factor in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2021.
Indian captain Virat Kohli made one change, as Varun Chakravarthy is playing in place of Shardul Thakur. Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul will be playing as the openers and off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will continue to play with Ravindra Jadeja and Chakravarthy as the third spinner, while Surya Kumar Yadav will play as no. 4 batsman.
India Playing 11: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Varun Chakravarthy, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah
Scotland Playing 11: George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (c), Matthew Cross (wk), Richie Berrington, Calum MacLeod, Michael Leask, Chris Greaves, Mark Watt, Safyaan Sharif, Alasdair Evans, Bradley Wheal
The chances for India to qualify for the semi-finals are becoming very less, as New Zealand defeated Namibia by 52-runs and increased their run rate even more. Now, India need to chase the target set by Scotland, within 12 overs to stay in the race of semi-finals.
On the other hand, if Afghanistan manages to beat New Zealand by more than 20 runs, then they will directly qualify for the semi-finals, considering their high run rate.
As for now, England and Pakistan are the only teams to qualify for the semifinals from their respective groups, winning all four games in the group stage. Whereas Bangladesh finished their T20 World Cup 2021 campaign without winning any matches, losing all their 5-matches in group stage.
