New Delhi, 5th November 2021: Pakistan’s mobilisation against India’s proposal for a meeting on Afghanistan has stalled. In response to an invitation from India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Russia, Iran, and Central Asian countries have agreed to participate.

There is no reply from China yet. Pakistan’s attitude can be understood from the fact that it has not officially responded to the Indian letter, but its NSA Moeed Yusuf has stated to the media that he will not come to New Delhi to participate in this meeting. At the same time, he also criticized India as a force that disturbs the peace in Afghanistan.

Sources in the Ministry of External Affairs said that they are not surprised by the statement of Pakistan’s NSA. However, it was quite unfortunate. This shows his mentality like the guardian of Afghanistan.

It should also be remembered that Pakistan has not participated in the meeting called by India on Afghanistan in the past. They have tried to divert the attention of the media by questioning the role of India. In fact, Pakistan’s role has been detrimental to Afghanistan and it is trying to hide it.

Under the chairmanship of Doval, this meeting of NSAs of neighboring countries of Afghanistan is to be held on November 10. Sources say that except for China and Pakistan, other countries have gladly accepted India’s invitation. The response from these countries has been overwhelming. This is the first such meeting to be chaired by India, in which NSAs from all neighboring Central Asian countries of Afghanistan will participate. Such a meeting was started in the year 2018. The first two meetings were held in Iran.

Last year due to the Corona epidemic, the third meeting could not be held, which was scheduled in New Delhi. Sources say that the way other countries have agreed to participate in the meeting on India’s request, it is clear that they consider India’s role important for lasting peace in Afghanistan. All these countries are concerned about the deteriorating situation in Afghanistan and want to find a way to lasting peace there.

It should be noted that on August 15, 2021, Kabul was captured by the Taliban with the tacit support of Pakistan. Since then, the internal situation of Afghanistan is very bad and there is a huge shortage of everything from food to drink. A large number of Afghan residents have migrated to other countries.

The work of development projects being run by all the countries including India is stalled. India has also spoken twice with the Taliban and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has even appealed for humanitarian aid there.

The importance of the meeting, to be led by Doval, is because most of the participating countries will talk about the possibility of terrorists going from Afghanistan to other countries and the strategy to stop it.
