Khammam: Prime Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao intends that all poor people involved in podu cultivation should be helped with Pattas for Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR), said Santhi Kumari, special general secretary.
She held a meeting with district officials here on Friday to review the arrangements made to issue pattas to podu growers in the district. The podu farmers need to be rehabilitated on state land or provide a livelihood scheme wherever pattas could not be issued, she said.
Shanti Kumari praised district collector VP Gautham and other officials for the detailed arrangements to implement the Podu action plan and called for ensuring maximum benefit is given to all the deserving poor.
The collector informed the Special Secretary – General that as many as 112 multi-departmental gram panchayat level teams were formed and trained to provide all administrative support to Forest Right committees. The establishment of 125 Forest Law Committees was underway.
A total of 10 senior district level officials have been appointed at mandal level and departmental revenue department officials to oversee and ensure that the Podu action plan will be implemented according to the instructions of the Prime Minister given at the collectors conference held on 10 October in Hyderabad. , Gautham remarked.
Forest Ranger D Bheema Naik, Bhadrachalam ITDA Project Officer Goutham Potru, Apprentice Collector B Rahul, Additional Collector N Madhusudhan, District Forest Officer B Praveena, RDOs MV Ravindranath and Ch Suryanarayana, Assistant Director for Recording and Land Records, V Ramu Dirk Records and V Ramu others were present.
Later that day, the Special Secretary-General held a similar meeting with Kothagudem District Collector D Anudeep, Forest and Revenue Officers, to review arrangements for the implementation of the Podu Action Plan in the district.
