Identify exportable items: Ranjan to people of Mao

Imphal, November 04 2021: Union MoS for External Affairs and Education Dr RK Ranjan Singh has urged the people of Mao to identify exportable items from their area and assured that he would extend a helping hand in the process of linking them with exporting groups.
The MoS said this during a golden jubilee celebration of Mao Naga Women Welfare Association (MNWWA) at Tribal Research Institute, Imphal, today.
At the function, Dr Ranjan continued that identifying some unique items is obligatory to get linked with a foreign direct funding agency.
Saying that people of Mao are very conscious when it comes to flowers, he opined that establishing a tissue culture laboratory at the border village would be appropriate to export hybrid flowers.

Mao farm also produces organic fruits and vegetables since years back but due to lack of awareness the title of organic State has been given to Sikkim, he added.
The MoS also stressed on the necessity to document the ways of life of Mao people, especially the elders.
Lauding MNWWA for their dedicated service to the society, he added that the theme of the celebration "Preserve and promote our identity" is also very valuable.
Dr Ranjan also assured of reminding Chief Minister N Biren of the memorandum submitted by MNWWA to establish a Mao Market at Imphal.
PHED Minister Losii Dikho, while hailing Dr Ranjan for attending the programme, described him as his political guru.
The Minister also stated that Dr Ranjan has genuine concern for the well being of Mao people.
Later, Dr Ranjan released a souvenir and also unveiled a golden jubilee plaque.
During the celebration, the gathering also condoled the demise of MNWWA general secretary.
MNWWA president D Kaini Thohrii and advisor Chithung Mary Maheo also attended the programme.
