I'm new to the forum and just looking for some advice on how best to achieve the below really, whether that be specific exercises or just general tips!
1. Lose fat on stomach, chest and bum. 2. Build muscle on biceps/triceps.
I'm 6 foot and naturally broad, I run a few miles per week and play football so my calves/quads are fairly well built. However I've largely neglected my upper body and so I have skinny arms and a fleshy chest/gut.
I have very little equipment other than a set of dumbells and a heavy bag at home - but not the first clue on exercises really.
You can only lose fat by creating a calorie deficit in your diet. It will come off from all over, it can't be targetted. See the "basics" sticky thread in the losing fat forum.
It's common for novices to want to target specific areas for muscle growth. Unlike with fat loss, this is possible BUT we all have a realization sooner or later that once we strip away the fat, there is not as much under there as we thought ... therefore we should be training the ENTIRE body without trying to pick and chose areas. For this reason, choose a comprehensive whole body novice routine - like Fierce 5 in the sticky threads at the top of the page. This was designed by an expert so don't make the mistake of thinking you need to alter it because you will (with the best will in the world) probably make it worse if you try.
