One more succumbs, 58 newly infected

Imphal, November 04 2021: One more Covid-19 patient died while 58 out of 1508 samples tested were found positive for the highly contagious virus on Thursday, registering a positivity rate of 3.85 per cent, which is slight increase from Wednesday's 3.38 per cent.
The lone victim was an unvacci-nated resident of Thoubal district and it took the cumulative number of death cases to 1927 .
Out of the 16 districts, 12 reported Covid cases on Wednesday with Imphal West reporting highest cases at 24 .
In terms of positivity rate, Tengnoupal district recorded highest single day positivity rate at 15.4 per cent while Senapati and Tamenglong districts had lowest positivity rate at 1.4 per cent.
Churachandpur, Jiribam, Noney and Pherzawl districts did not report any new positive cases.
The active caseload remains same at 704 out of which 77 (10.94 per cent) are in home isolation, 163 (23.15 per cent) in CCCs, and 166 (23.58 per cent) in hospitals while whereabouts of 298 patients (42.33 per cent) are not known as all the CHICs have been shut down.
Among the hospitalised patients, 50 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 33 are on oxygen support and 20 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 87 patients.
On the other hand, there is one patient on oxygen support in one of the CCCs.
There is also no updated information regarding bed availability but as of Tuesday evening, 710 beds including 128 ICU/HDU beds were available in different hospitals, 2515 beds in different Covid Care Centres and 452 beds (31 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 94,557 positive cases and 1553 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic out of which 431 new cases and nine fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
The current month reported 226 new positive cases and six death cases.
According to official reports, the 58 new positive cases included 57 people (33 male & 24 female) from among the general population and one jawan of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at JNIMS (8) and other testing centres (50) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (17), Imphal West (24), Thoubal (3), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (2), Chandel (1), Kamjong (1), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (1), Tengnoupal (2) and Senapati (2).All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 57 patients were discharged from home isolation (6), RIMS (5), JNIMS (11) and CCCs (35) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,23,957 (general population - 1,19,618 and CAPF personnel - 4,339).Number of recovered cases is 1,21,326 (general population -1,17,006 and CAPF personnel - 4,320) and number of active cases is 704 (general population - 690 and CAPF personnel - 14) .
The recovery rate is 97.88 per cent.
A total of 738 D-type and 154 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, 8372 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated persons to 12,52,013 including 7,45,217 fully vaccinated individuals.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (43,217), Imphal East (27,456), Thoubal (9448), Churachandpur (10,140), Kangpokpi (2781), Tamenglong (3279), Bishnupur (9160), Senapati (2233), Ukhrul (2950), Kakching (6401), Chandel (2338), Noney (1068), Tengnoupal (1067), Jiribam (1022), Kamjong (933) and Pherzawl (464).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (640), Imphal East (459), Thoubal (175), Churachandpur (161), Kangpokpi (61), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (190), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (39), Kakching (111), Chandel (39), Noney (4), Tengnpupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,947 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,547 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,42,780 tests per million population against the national average of 4,37,223 TPM: Case fatality rate stands at 1.55 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 1508 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 3.85 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.02 per cent.
