Hyderabad: Hyderabad police arrested two young people on Friday for allegedly taking video of a woman putting on clothes in a rehearsal room at a shopping mall.
The incident took place at H&M Shopping Center in the boastful Jubilee Hills area, police said.
The accused, present in a box, was taking video of the woman from above as she was putting on clothes in the adjoining box. When she noticed it, she sounded alarm and people present in the mall caught the youth.
After receiving the information, staff from the Jubilee Hills Police Station rushed to the mall and arrested the accused.
A police officer said they seized the cellphones of the accused and investigated whether they were involved in similar activities anywhere else.
Police also arrested the store manager for alleged negligence that led to the incident. “We will act according to law against all three,” said AR Srinivas, joint police commissioner.
The two accused, who came to the shopping center as customers, entered the trial area intended for women and were present in the box next to the one where the woman was putting on clothes.
The police officer said since the store did not take the appropriate precautions, the manager was also charged in the case.
This is the second such incident in Jubilee Hills in a month and a half.
An employee of a drive-in restaurant was arrested on September 22 after a hidden camera phone with its recording mode turned on was found in the women’s laundry room. A female customer of the restaurant lodged the complaint with the police after she found the hidden camera in an overhead shelf of the laundry room.
