MUNCIE, Ind. — A man was killed and another was wounded in shootings, apparently connected, on Muncie's south side late Friday morning.

The first report of a shooting was received by Delaware County emergency dispatchers at 11:24 a.m.

Delaware County Coroner Rick Howell was notified that one victim was deceased.

That victim was found in a yard in the 2200 block of South Pershing Drive, Deputy Police Chief Melissa Pease said.

Another shooting victim was driven, in a private vehicle, to IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital, Pease said.

His wounds were apparently not believed to be life threatening.

Details of what led to the gunfire were not immediately available.

City police were conducting investigations at scenes in the 2200 block of South Pershing Drive, at a nearby location along South Vine Street and at the hospital.

Delaware County Prosecutor Eric Hoffman and Chief Deputy Prosecutor Zach Craig were at the Pershing Drive scene early Friday afternoon.
