Chhoti Diwali is the second day of the five-day-long festival of Diwali. It is also known as Naraka Chaturdashi because it falls on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha, the dark half of Aaso month. Early morning religious ceremonies and festivities mark the start of the day.
Devotees on Chhoti Diwali go for bathing, known as Abhyanga Snan, between 05:40 am to 06:30 am. The bath is said to be Holy that cleanses devotees’ souls and saves them from going to hell after death. This snan is done using ubtan of sesame(til) oil. Snan done with this ubtan helps protect the persons from poverty, unforeseen events, misfortune, etc.
