K.P.I. Global Infras(up 4.98%), Adani Transmissions(up 4.84%), Indowind Energy(up 4.79%), NTL(up 4.55%), NLC India(up 4.37%), ABBPP&SLTD(up 3.39%), ADANIGREEN(up 2.58%), DPSC(up 1.26%), Indo Tech Transformers(up 1.14%) and Kalpataru Power Transmission(up 0.96%) stood among the top gainers.
Jaiprakash Power Ventures(down 4.08%), NHPC(down 3.80%), Reliance Power(down 3.40%), GE Power India Limited(down 2.05%), Energy Development Company(down 1.90%), Torrent Power(down 1.86%), JSW Energy(down 1.66%), Jyoti Structures(down 1.25%), Orient Green Power Company(down 1.09%) and Power Grid Corporation of India(down 0.84%) were among the top losers of the day.
The NSE Nifty50 index ended 59.75 points down at 17829.2, while the 30-share BSE Sensex closed down 257.14 points at 59771.92.
Larsen & Toubro(up 4.07%), Grasim Industries(up 2.38%), UPL Ltd(up 2.33%), UltraTech Cement(up 2.26%), Asian Paints(up 2.17%), Hindalco Industries(up 2.11%), Indian Oil Corporation(up 1.34%), State Bank of India(up 1.14%), JSW Steel(up 1.1%) and SBI Life(up 1.09%) stood among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.
On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 3.37%), IndusInd Bank(down 2.85%), Bharti Airtel(down 2.08%), Kotak Mahindra Bank(down 1.88%), ICICI Bank(down 1.87%), Hero MotoCorp(down 1.6%), HDFC Bank(down 1.57%), Titan Company Ltd(down 1.47%), Mahindra & Mahindra(down 1.45%) and Britannia Industries(down 1.44%) closed in the red.
