India's Covaxin gets WHO approval: Who said what

NEW DELHI: The World Health Organisation (WHO) on Wednesday approved India-made Covid-19 vaccine developed by Bharat Biotech. The WHO decision has been welcomed by the government.
Here's who said what:
Bharat Biotech: The vaccine developer, Bharat Biotech said that the countries can now expedite their regulatory approval processes to import & administer Covaxin.
In a statement, the company said: "With validation from WHO, countries can now expedite their regulatory approval processes to import & administer Covaxin. UNICEF, Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), GAVI COVAX facility, will be able to procure Covaxin for distribution to countries worldwide."
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus: The WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus in a tweet said that he is glad to see Covaxin get the approval for emergency use.

Mansukh Mandaviya: Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya too thanked WHO for granting approval to the indigenously developed vaccine.

Dr S Jaishankar: External affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar also welcomed the WHO decision and said that it facilitates travel for many Indian citizens and contributes to vaccine equity.

Soumya Swaminathan: Following the emergency use approval for Covaxin, WHO Chief Scientist Soumya Swaminathan said in a tweet congratulated India for the successful development of an indigenous vaccine and for its vaccination program.
