THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state witnessed 6,444 Covid-positive cases of the 64,999
samples tested in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases, 5,521 people had taken
vaccination and 1,997 people who tested
Covid positive in the day have not taken even a single dose. However, 2,348 people among the new cases had taken both vaccine doses.
Presently, the total active cases are 74,618, of which 8% people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres.
Meanwhile, 45 recent deaths were confirmed as caused by Covid, taking the related death toll in the state to 32,236. At the same time, 8,424 patients have recovered from the infection.
Among the new cases, 5,913 have been infected through local spread. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 452. There are 31 healthcare professionals among those infected and 48 people have arrived from outside the state.
Thiruvananthapuram with 990 reported the highest number of cases, followed by Ernakulam (916), Thrissur (780), Kottayam (673), Kozhikode (648), Kollam (606), Palakkad (345), Idukki (332), Malappuram (290), Kannur (255), Alappuzha (228), Pathanamthitta (213), Wayanad (92) and Kasaragod (76).
There are a total of 2,62,454 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 2,55,881 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 4,886 are in isolation at hospitals.
As per the weekly infection population ratio 115 wards in 77 local bodies are having WIPR more than 10%. In these wards, strict lockdown restrictions have been implemented. tnn
