Greer 'and I both love a glass of wine,' said Garner. 'Fair to say? And we have been thinking more and more about' to which Greer added, 'not having glasses of wine even though we love them so much.'

Garner said, 'We drink differently - I have a little bit almost every night,' to which Greer added, 'I am the other version, where I can go like five days but then I like, hit it hard on the weekends.'

Garner, who is mother to kids Violet, 15, Seraphina, 12, and Samuel, nine, with ex-husband Ben Affleck, said she doesn't 'like to be drunk,' while Greer noted, 'I love to be drunk - I think I used to be pretty good at it, I’m no longer good at it.'

Garner said that she always felt drinking was 'not an issue' because she 'never [gets] drunk,' but continues to be introspective on the matter.

Greer said she has been sober since Labor Day, except for one night in which she went out with her husband Dean E. Johnsen.

'Right now, in my life, everything is better when I'm not drinking,' she said.

Garner said, 'I have no judgment ... you kind of are where you are in your journey, and the interesting thing is, is that you and I are in a different place but coming at it from a similar angle.'

Garner said she went through a period in which she didn’t drink for 10 weeks, but then decided she wanted 'to choose the night' and she could have some.

Greer compared smoking to drinking, as a means of stifling emotions.

Garner and Greer recalled how they enjoyed a night out with nonalcoholic beverages and were happy about the choice.

'We were both so relieved, that's the first thing we would enjoy together,' she said.

Garner and Greer have been friends for years since starring in the 2004 comedy 13 Going on 30, in which they played the respective roles of Jenna Rink and Lucy Wyman.
