The Kiss Cam is a time-honored tradition for sports-loving couples to share a little romance on screen. But love was not in the air at recent college football game where a poor young woman's rejection was broadcast on live TV.
Cameras were swooping over fans at the Wake Forest Demon Deacons' crushing win against Duke on Saturday, when they zoomed in on a young couple in the crowd.
The guy and girl appeared to be flirting and chatting, when the girl leaned in for a kiss.
However, the guy had different plans. As she leaned in, he faced forward pretending not to notice her in one of the most ruthless rejections ever caught at a sporting event.

A college football fan snubbed his girlfriend's kiss on ESPN during Wake Forest's 45-7 win over Duke, saying it's a misunderstanding and that the rejection was an inside joke
After the crushing blow, the internet was quick to denounce the young man but the pair insist that the move was just an 'inside joke'.
'I was just playing with her, like when you go for a kiss and then you don't actually kiss because it's funny,' the man said in a TikTok video. 'And that happened to be the one part that was on national TV… We're cool, she's not like mad.'
The woman followed and filmed herself in her car on Tiktok explaining in a separate video that the 'rejection' was actually an 'inside joke' between the two of them.
'Whenever we kiss each other it's like a joke between us where one of us will swerve so that we don't actually kiss, so that's what was kind of going on there,' she said, adding that her father watched the live moment on television.
'We didn't know we were being recorded so me getting rejected was caught live on national television… I was a little embarrassed but now it's kind of funny.'
Neither posted under their names, and have not identified themselves.
As the video went viral on social media platforms over the weekend, the guy chose to address the situation head-on and shared his side of the story on a Reddit thread

The guy also shared a one-off post on Reddit to further clarify the situation.
'Basically, I've been talking to this girl for a while and we just started dating about a week ago. I tell her she should come to the Wake game since we are undefeated and will probably win. She says yes. We go with a group of friends, and we are having a great time. Throughout the game we are flirting, hugging, kissing a little bit, etc,' he explained.
'So, we do our little inside joke thing, and unbeknownst to us, we are being recorded. After the game, I find I'm on the wake forest old row Instagram page, and within the hour I'm on the official old row page. Then, I'm on TikTok, Twitter, and apparently Reddit too.'
So, long story short, the guy rejecting the girl’s kiss was just his way of flirting with her and the camera basically caught him in the act.
He added that it's unlikely the situation happens to them again, as he hinted that was potentially the last college football game he'd attend with the woman.
'It was also her first (maybe last?) college football game,' he wrote.
