JAMSHEDPUR: Leading doctors from various parts of the country expressed concern over the rising cases of impotency among couples.
Taking part in a two-day seminar, organised by Jamshedpur Obstetrics and Gynaecological Society (JOGS), Dr Vinod Agarwal said male impotency is on the rise. He said if the couple is issueless, it does not mean that the problem is with the wife and not the husband as per age-old way of seeing things.
Agarwal pointed out that due to various reasons tests have revealed that male impotency is a major problem in many couples. He said more awareness is required in this area as often women in the family are victimised and looked down upon in a couple fails to make a baby. In the conference, which was attended by 70 doctors, concern was also expressed over the deaths during pregnancy and childbirth.
On the second day of the conference, which was being organised after nearly a gap of 20 months due to Covid-19, on Sunday the participants took part in a live interactive surgery session through video conferencing, using modern gadgets.
The participants were informed that using such gadgets in the long run would not only help to save time but would reduce the cost burden on patients and more importantly lead to the rise in efficiency.
Dr Ranjana Joshi and Dr Asha Gupta, president and treasurer of JOGS respectively, also highlighted the social responsibility of doctors towards society.
In another conference of doctors in the city organised by Hemophilia Society (Jamshedpur chapter), concern was expressed over the rising cases of hemophilia and related cases.
The doctors discussed the various kinds of hemophilia and the latest treatment available.
