In a hilarious clip, Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand could not contain his excitement on both occasions as Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in a 2-2 draw against Atalanta.
Leaping up from his BT Sport studio chair, the former Red Devils captain could not contain himself as the Portuguese icon showed how vital he is to the team.
United may not have much to cheer about this season, but Ronaldo is doing his absolute best to change the mood.
Whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his side could not come away with the win, that extra point could prove crucial at the end of the group stage.
There is still much for Solskjaer to solve defensively, but he, alongside Ferdinand will be delighted that the club’s No.7 continues to bail them out of trouble.
After Ronaldo equalised for the first time, Ferdinand shouted: “This is what we’re here for! Come on!”
And after the stoppage-time equaliser, Ferdinand yelled: “Oh my God! This is what he does! This is what he flipping does! It’s illegal! Alien!”
Whilst he might be well renowned pundit and analyst, Ferdinand, like most football supporters, is still as passionate as ever.
Ronaldo’s outstanding performances have rightly been lauded by many with Tottenham legend Clive Allen hailing the 36-year-old’s ‘God-given’ talents.
Allen told talkSPORT: “It’s just incredible ability that he has and he’s been able to produce year after year. He makes it look so easy and that’s something that is God-given, quite remarkable.
“He’s been doing it year in year out and where would Man United be without him?”
Despite Ronaldo’s heroics, there is still much to be concerned about for Solskjaer and his coaching staff.
His side are leaking goals left, right and centre and even though they came away with a point, a more ruthless side will finish off the chances that Atalanta couldn’t.
A much better result and performance is needed from the Red Devils if they want to avoid a repeat of the same result against Liverpool as they take on fierce rivals Manchester City on Saturday, live on talkSPORT.
