Volkswagen India has stopped accepting bookings for the 2021 T-ROC as the second batch has been sold out. The T-ROC is a fully imported vehicle positioned above the Taigun and is available in one fully loaded variant at Rs 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
The T-ROC's distinct pull was in its funky design language, which is unlike any VW. We particularly liked the DRLs, crisp shoulder lines, and near-perfect stance. The build quality, fit, and finish can't be faulted either. And then, of course, there's the extensive features list...
...Including an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver's display, dual-zone climate control, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a panoramic sunroof, and heated front seats. Passenger safety is secured by six airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, and electronic stability control.
The T-ROC gets Volkswagen's 150PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that drives the front wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic. The highlight of this powertrain is its active cylinder deactivation tech, which shuts down two cylinders under light load for improved fuel economy.
VW has yet to confirm whether the T-ROC would continue to be sold in India or not. Considering that it has done a reasonably good job here, local assembly could very well make sense. Volkswagen is also working on the facelifted T-ROC, which may be brought to India as well.
