Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam is the no. 1 batsman in T20 and ODI in the latest ICC rankings, while Sri Lanka’s Wanindu Hasaranga has topped the list of bowlers in T20 internationals. With 834 points Babar Azam dethroned England’s David Malan (798) to top the list of world no. 1 batsman in T20. Wanindu Hasaranga (776), the young sensation from Sri Lanka replaced South Africa’s Tabraiz Shamsi (770) to become the new no. 1 bowler in T20 format.
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul are the only two Indian batters to feature in the ICC’s top-10 batsmen in T20 cricket, while no bowler from the Indian side is featured in the list of ICC’s top-10 bowlers. Babar Azam has a 36-points lead over second-ranked David Malan and he is the only batsman to have more than 800-points.
This is the 6th time that Babar Azam became no. 1 T20 batsman, the Pakistani skipper has been in top form in the ongoing world cup, smashing three fifties in four matches. Australian skipper Aron Finch climbed three spots to claim the third spot and after his fantastic century against Sri Lanka, Jos Butller also entered in the top-10 batsmen in the latest ICC rankings.
On the other hand, Sri Lanka’s wonder leg-spinner Wanindu Hasaranga became the no. 1 bowler for the first time, with 14 wickets in 7 matches, he is the leading wicket-taker of T20 World Cup 2021and rightfully so he is the new no. 1 T20 bowler. He replaced Tabraiz Shamsi, who was the top-ranked bowler since last year’s April.
