Sub-100 count continues with 55 new cases

Imphal, November 02 2021: Even as the State reported 55 fresh Covid cases in the last 24 hours, at least 61 persons recuperated from the disease today, as per COVID-19 Common Control Room.
As 1834 samples were tested in the period (last 24 hours), the daily test positivity rate updated on Tuesday was 3 percent which is lower than the 4.5 percent of yesterday.
Among the districts, Tengnoupal reported the highest positivity rate at 9.2 percent as 8 out of 89 samples from the district tested positive while Imphal West had the maximum cases and samples tested in the last 24 hours with 31 and 593 respectively.
The positivity rate of other districts which saw fresh Covid cases are Imphal West (5.2 percent), Chandel (4 percent), Noney (3.7 percent), Ukhrul (2.5 percent), Thoubal (2.2 percent), Imphal East (2.2 percent), Kakching (1.7 percent) and Bishnupur (1.4 percent) .
The new Covid cases which include 3 CAPF personnel were confirmed at RIMS (5), JNIMS (4) and other testing centres (46) while the positive cases from the general population are from Imphal East (5), Imphal West (31), Thoubal (2), Bishnupur (1), Kakching (1), Ukhrul (2), Chandel (2) and Tengnoupal (8) .
In the same period, at least 1 person each from Imphal West and Imphal East died due to the contagion in the last 24 hours.
Imphal West (640) and Imphal East (458), notably, are at the first two places in the Covid death chart while Pherzawl is at the bottom with no death reported so far.
With 61 persons discharged from Home Isolation (13), JNIMS (8) and CCCs (40), the recovered cases has risen to 1,21,213 while the active cases have declined to 704 as compared to 712 updated on Monday.
The recovery rate now stands at 97.88 percent.
Yesterday, the State distributed 353 D-type and 46 B-type oxygen cylinders to different healthcare facilities and administered 8574 Covid vaccine doses.
In terms of vaccination, Jiribam, Imphal West and Imphal East are at the top three spots as the three districts have fully vaccinated 64.12; 55.16 and 49.10 percent of its adult population while Senapati remains the lowest as it has fully vaccinated only 12.01 percent of its eligible population.
Over all, the State has vaccinated 64.52 percent of its adult population with the 1st dose and 37.53 percent with the second.
