Chandigarh Administrator Banwarilal Purohit takes up issues pending with Centre

UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit took up the issues of the Chandigarh Administration lying pending with various ministries during a meeting today.

Niti Aayog members Prof Ramesh Chand, adviser Kundan Kumar and deputy adviser Dr Biswanath Bishnoi attended the meeting alongside UT Adviser Dharam Pal.

Purohit highlighted that Chandigarh had achieved most of the goals set by the Niti Aayog in the third edition of the Sustainable Development Goals India Index 2020-21. However, there are certain issues that need attention at the Centre level, he said.

The issue of setting up of ‘Chandigarh Innovation Circle’ was also raised during the meeting. The project aims to serve as a platform for collaborations between higher education, R&D institutions, industries, investors, startups and government agencies, which can lead to innovation driven growth and employment.

Enhancing monthly pension from Rs1,000 to Rs2,000 (old age pension, widow pension and pension to disabled persons with less than 70 per cent disability) and Rs2,000 to Rs2,500 for those with above 70 per cent disability was also tabled in the meeting.

Formation of 14 more Atal Tinkering Labs in schools and release of subsidy for installation of rooftop solar power projects were also discussed. — TNS
