    Stock market update: Nifty Pharma index falls 0.75%

    The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.75 per cent down at 13888.3.

    NEW DELHI: The Nifty Pharma index closed on a negative note on Wednesday.

    Shares of Cipla(up 1.02 per cent), Biocon(up 0.84 per cent), Laurus(up 0.75 per cent), Lupin(up 0.55 per cent) and Dr Reddys Laboratories(up 0.54 per cent) ended the day as top gainers in the pack.

    On the other hand, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries(down 3.37 per cent), Alkem Laboratories(down 1.33 per cent), Divis Laboratories(down 1.25 per cent), Torrent Pharmaceuticals(down 1.23 per cent) and Pfizer(down 1.15 per cent) finished as the top losers of the day.

    The Nifty Pharma index closed 0.75 per cent down at 13888.3.

    Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index ended down 59.75 points at 17829.2, while the BSE Sensex stood down 257.14 points at 59771.92.

    Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 22 ended in the green, while 28 closed in the red.

    Shares of SBI, Vodafone Idea, Bank of Baroda, PNB and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

    Shares of Barbeque-Nation Hospitality Ltd., Digjam L, Shiva Mills, Sobha and Sarla Perform hit their fresh 52-week highs in today's trade, while Airo Lam, Hathway Cable, RPP Infra Proj(PP), Kotyark Industries Ltd. and Quadpro ITeS Ltd. hit their fresh 52-week lows.
