‘7 stages of grief’: MSNBC, CNN hosts ripped for ‘meltdown’ over Youngkin win

Commentators on MSNBC and CNN were ripped on social media Wednesday for having a “meltdown” after results showed Glenn Youngkin pulled off a stunning upset against Democrat Terry McAuliffe and became the first Republican to lead the state in more than a decade.

Late Tuesday, Youngkin beat McAuliffe by 2.1 points when 99 percent of the votes were counted and the victory was met with shock and venom on MSNBC by commentator Joy Reid, who called the candidate “dangerous” and “racist.”

“These Republicans are dangerous, that this isn’t a party that’s just another political party that disagrees with us on tax policy. That at this point, they’re dangerous,” Reid railed alongside Rachel Maddow.

“They’re dangerous to our national security, because stoking that kind of soft white nationalism eventually leads to the hardcore stuff. It leads to the January 6 stuff.”

Reid warned that a vote for Youngkin, who has been outspoken against teaching critical race theory in schools, would open the floodgates to “hardcore racism.”

On CNN, commentator Van Jones questioned if Youngkin’s victory is the “emergence of the Delta variant of Trumpism.”

He later tweeted Wednesday that Republican wins across the nation should be a “wake up call” to Democrats

“The whole idea of the ‘anti-Trump resistance’ being the only rationale for us to be a party is over,” Jones wrote.

“What is our rationale going forward? What do progressives need to do differently?”

Conservative radio host Buck Sexton compared the reaction on MSNBC to the “seven stages of grief.”

“MSNBC is currently going through the seven stages of grief on an endless loop in real time,” Sexton wrote.

“It’s great, highly recommend.”

Anne Coulter wrote: “If you want to give yourself a treat, turn on MSNBC.”

One Twitter user shared a graphic of former President Donald Trump’s face inside a nuclear cloud, writing “your tears are DELICIOUS!!!!” with the hashtag “RedWave2021.”

“Look at CNN they just keep looking at that map trying to figure out how McAuliffe can win, it’s almost like a puzzle that can’t be put together,” @SoCalValleyGal tweeted late Tuesday.

Meghan McCain wrote: “MSNBC is on nothing short of an emotional journey to Narnia tonight.”
