In celebration of this day, then-Chief minister K. Palanisamy announced in the assembly on July 20, 2019, that november 1 will be honored yearly as 'Tamil Nadu Day.' MK stalin, the then-DMK leader and opposition leader, congratulated tamil Nadu on the news, saying that it had been two years in the making.

“The State of tamil Nadu will recollect July 18, 1967, when the resolution was passed at the request of various political parties, tamil sensitizers, tamil alliances, tamil scholars, and tamil activists,” chief minister MK stalin stated in a statement released on october 30. As a result, every year on July 18th, tamil Nadu Day is commemorated.

The day the Tamil-speaking state of tamil Nadu was created, november 1, 1956, would be an ideal day to commemorate. A decision was enacted on november 18, 1967, renaming the province of chennai as 'Tamil Nadu.' However, the name was not changed to 'Tamil Nadu' until July 18, 1969. Only one birthday can be celebrated by a state. It wasn't on the day that the name was coined. This has been brought up by a number of leaders. As a result, tamil Nadu Day should be observed on november 1 without causing extra consternation."
