GBBO: 'That could take your teeth out!' George is eliminated after disastrous caramel tart and biscuit bar - while Jürgen is crowned star baker AGAIN

George was the latest cook to say goodbye to the tent during Tuesday's instalment of The Great British Bake Off where it was caramel week.

The father-of-three, 34, was eliminated from the competition after failing to impress judges Prue Leith and Paul Hollywood with his caramel tart and biscuit bar.

His chocolate coated biscuit bar created during the Technical challenge came bottom of the leaderboard, with Paul hilariously commenting that it 'could take your teeth out!'

Also in the mix to be possibly eliminated was Lizzie who lacked finesse with her dessert sugar dome Showstopper.

George got off to a rocky start in the Signature challenge where he made a disastrous banana and caramel tart with curdled custard and melted cream.

He then came bottom in the Technical, commenting afterwards: 'I don't think that could have gone any worse!'

Speaking after his elimination George said: 'There is a bitter sweetness, my showstopper I was proud of but the rest wasn't great.

'But my family are so proud I'm even in the tent and I've had the best time!'

Explaining his decision judge Paul commented: 'He made more mistakes than Lizzie in the end.'

Amanda, 56, and George, 34, both struggled while creating a pastry terrine pie for the Showstopper challenge.

Both of their pies took too long to cook and ended up collapsing after being taken out of the oven.

Amanda ended up being the one sent packing and, speaking after her elimination, said: 'You've got to go some time haven't you?'

'I didn't think when I got here I'd get that far after seeing all the other bakers. But I've had such a good time.'

'I came here to have a good time. It's a little bit stressful here but it's a fun stress. Perhaps if I didn't talk so much I'd have gone a little bit further.'

Taking to Twitter after Amanda's elimination, one user wrote: 'Aw Amanda was one of my faves'.

Another said: 'First time I've got the leaving baker wrong. Sorry to see Amanda go.'

Several viewers praised contestant Chigs, 40, for helping Amanda out while was struggling during the challenge.

One said: 'Chugs hugging Amanda saying 'I'm sorry there was nothing else I could do'. I love how they all help each other.'

Another wrote: 'Chigs was so sweet to Amanda. He's my new favourite'.

Former Great British Bake Off star Chetna Makan wrote: 'Amanda is still smiling after that bake! And that's what it is all about, enjoying the time in the tent whatever happens to the bake! Isn't it???'

Great British Bake Off continues Tuesdays at 8pm on Channel 4.
