Petrol prices are up for the seventh straight day after a two-day breather. In Delhi, petrol and diesel will now cost you Rs 110.04 a litre (up by Rs 0.35) and Rs 98.42 per litre respectively. The surge is an outcome of the rising global oil prices which have pushed pump rates across India to record high.
Petrol and diesel are priced at Rs 115.85 and Rs 106.62 in Mumbai; Rs 110.49 and Rs 101.56 in Kolkata and Rs 106.66 and Rs 102.59 in Chennai.
The Central government is in talks with several oil-exporting countries on the issue of supply and demand of oils but there is no possibility of immediate relief in prices.
Since September 5, when both petrol and diesel prices were revised, prices in global markets are higher by around $9-10 per barrel compared to average prices during August.
