Aaditya Thackeray asked the BMC to set up more charging stations at public parking lots.
MUMBAI: Environment minister Aaditya Thackeray on Tuesday conducted the bhoomi poojan of three electric vehicle charging stations in South Mumbai. The charring stations will come up at Hutatma Chowk, Kalaghoda Chowk and Rampart Road in the A ward.
Aaditya asked the BMC to set up more charging stations at public parking lots. “The state government has supported the policy of electric vehicles. Under this policy, production of electric vehicles and the necessary infrastructure are also being promoted. As a part of this, the construction of electric vehicle charging stations is also being given priority by the BMC so that more and more citizens can use electric vehicles. All three locations will have free electric vehicle charging for the first three months,” the BMC said.
BMC officials said, “All these three places will have three charging points each. Also, each charging point will have 7.4 KW AC charging capacity. For this single phase power supply will be provided. As there is a single phase power supply, it will be possible to build this electric vehicle charging station in a small space and in a small size. Also vehicles can be charged safely while parking. In addition, these charging stations are relatively easy to maintain.”
